Reasons- the early childhood indoctrination that made them submissive to the authorities, the social environment that took their freedom to rationalize circumstances, cultural dehumanization of the targets, and most importantly the perceived superiority of their beliefs over other’s beliefs.

You forgot to mention that they probably saw their homes demolished, their lands taken over, their parents daily humiliated at checkpoints and turned into beggars for aid, their friends shot to pieces in front of them, sexual assaults on their sisters... facing all this VIOLENCE by an OCCUPYING force, they decide to fight back. What would you do? Lie down and say roll over me and my community for the next 75 years?
