Yes, I agree, sadly you are absolutely right - accents and nationality is also used to judge people's acceptability and stereotypes are applied for sure... Awful to experience king treated as a thief/prostitute... and then, the prejudice against Polish people affected your choice of rental apartment too...

I think the point I was making in my article still stands - ie, that people of colour cannot mute their accent/ they re visibly different and for racists, that is central to their hate filled attacks ...

I have Italian, Irish, Scottish and Polish friends and their experience of being accepted or not - hinges on them changing their accent, and muting any visible signs of affiliation.

I had some similar experiences to those you describe, in Bulgaria and the UK, where I grew up.
