…Unbeknownst to both Rafeedie and the Israeli prison guard, the manuscript existed in a second copy. Three of Rafeedie’ s fellow inmates had copied the novel onto paper small enough to fit inside medicine capsules, which were then smuggled through six prisons until the author discovered in 1996 that the manuscript he thought lost was being widely read by Palestinian prisoners.

Ingenious and... what an act of love and faith in the power of words...
I look at the egotistical drivel coming out of Masters in Creative Writing programmes here in the UK... and realise why I had to leave one after 2 weeks and abandon the idea of attending another one elsewhere in the UK.
