While writing this article, I had to contend with the voice in my head telling me this is a tiny, trivial, personal hygiene matter, not worth spending time on, considering climate breakdown, wars, food shortages, droughts etc etc.

But you are spot on, Kathy, that keeping women in tiny boxes of controllable shame, as you put it, makes us easier to control and dominate.
