When, as an undergraduate, I first heard about the M.A.D (Mutually Assured Destruction) policy I was in shock and wondered why none of the learned professors in the philosophy department were doing anything to oppose nuclear weapons... and point out the insanity of spending billions of dollars on weapons that could destroy the planet many many times over.

As if destroying it once over, was not enough…
