What a wonderful response to a rather challenging question!

You have made my efforts to articulate this, feel worthwhile... I actually met Gillian later in Harare, and did not want to raise the matter with her... It was years later, when I noticed how she treated partner (former student, bot older than her, with a disability and he was Paleface like her, but working class, developing his literacy skills in English) but in her relationship with him, she had all the power... and she would go off with other guys. He said he felt like a dog tied to a lamp post, awaiting her return... and this was the situation that made me see her taking advantage of /not care about someone's vulnerability in terms of class and emotions. Not sure if I 'm making sense ... human relationships are so complicated!
