Warm greetings Farida… yes, you are spot on… I gave myself this name, having earnt it in long and ongoing (!) battles to resist fossilised ways of being that women from Muslim famlies are expected to abide by… not to mention the marginalisation that occurs when as a woman of colour you refuse to aceept token status in white circles.
By the way, I do love the voice of the famous Farida …. who I’m guessing is your namesake? That one song of hers is just divine. … how to translate it… ‘tarry a while’, just doesn’t evoke that same feelings and I speak as someone growing up in the UK !
