Usury is forbidden under islamic law and also was under Christian law, but all the elites in whichever system, whether political or religious, are certainly now, worshiping Mammon to the detriment of human life and planetary health. Most populations too, are more than willing to 'flog the dead horse of proft' as you put it...

I don't see anything changing until people start to suffer the consequences of this value system, in ways that make th links undeniable. We are not quite there yet. Probably in another ten years , there will be vastly more climate change and consequent food and water shortages.

I am so glad I made the decision in my mid twenties that it was irresponsible to have children when so many of those already born are suffering from slow or severe starvation, lack of parental love etc etc
