Too true - as a teacher of adults returning to college, I could see this was the situation for so many of my students - labeled 'failure', and in various ways, mocked, and undermined instead of nurtured and encouraged when they were children at school.

How else to create a hierarchy where an elite are guaranteed the best of everything and the majority must be convinced they are fit for nothing but exploitative workplaces and and oppressive social order that in the West teaches us our value lies in the wealth we accumulate or the objects we consume?
