Thought-provoking indeed ... so does that mean hypocritical people have less/no self-respect? They present as having values that they in fact do not abide by... I've found such people are usually proud and arrogant, while also being super sensitive to any form of exposure of the contradiction between their word and their actions. They will use their status, power and privileges to silence and do a character assassination on anyone who even inadvertently reveals their true character.
