Treating unarmed, nonviolent people violently is a recipe for disaster, but that's how our system of policing was designed. Police are dangerous. So, yes, by all means, fire the officers involved in Tyre Nichols's death, and hold them accountable, but let us not be surprised by Black officers perpetuating anti-Black racism by brutalizing Black people because that's how the policing works in America.

This is another article failing to explore the point that Black parenting and communities need to install some kind of loyalty and love for their own, such that the system of white supremacy is not supported when we enter its institutions.
