Why the cat sat on that particular mat, who provided the mat, was it just a mat? Where is the mat now? Was it that the cat was important or the mat or the action of sitting? Has it ever happened before, or again? If one cat did it could there have been more? It is an endless journey which can take you places and introduce you to people that shaped events in a major or minor way which has impacts on our lives today. You disregard facts as a choice. It doesn’t change the fact. Alternative history is exactly that. An alternative view based on the same set of facts, more even, and presented comparatively to show how the two views in themselves may have shaped actions prior, during and after an event.
