This reminds me of my very first job in London - exact same thing but in the voluntary sector.

Two projects' workers, were the management committee for one another. Niether did the work they were being paid to do properly or to full capacity... when I tried to make changes, they escalated form giving me the silent treatment to not paying my salary. Had I kept quiet I would not have had a full year of harassment, involving the monitoring officer and my white landlord pulling in the same direction to slander me, so that I got dismissed on my first day at my second job. Being truthful and honest is a crime, in the eyes of such people.
