This is a magnificent meditation on a film and director I heard of for the first time - I associate John Wayne with all those utterly racist cowboy and Indian films that erased the truth about how white invaders took over the land and used enslaved African people and their progeny for generations, to get rich 🤑 So I would not consider watching any film with John Wayne - but now I’ll have to make an exception .
