The title of this article immediately brought to my mind, the words of Indigenous peoples such as Chief Seattle, who asked 'How can the land, rivers, sky be owned'? They were shocked by the bottomless greed and desire to monopolise Nature's bounties.
The mindset that privatises public goods and sells them/makes them available to the highest bidder continues to prevail against any concept of the commons, or the public good. I think it is the logical degeneration of white supremacy's worship of money and power.
