The social and geopolitical features we experience due to the accident of birth, mean we gain benefits or lacks which the observer terms our own responsibility entirely, these define us, in ways they should not.

I mean, I look at the privileges enjoyed by my nephew (born in the UK) with Irish origin mother and my South Asian heritage brother, whose great grandparents grew up in an area deprived of much wealth due to the depredations of the British. My 16 year old nephew's confidence and pride arises mostly from the benefits accrued from his birth circumstances, not anything he has as an individual accomplished. No-one can call him ignorant, for example.
