The connection between notions of 'Manifest Destiny' and that of being the 'Chosen People', is something I have never seen but the point you are making here, reminds me that the two ae absolutely reflective of the same dehumanisation of those people whose lands were lusted after by the invading, massacring, colonial-settlers
