Sorry but you need a reality check here - they saw what happened to those leaders who were not deferential, such as Patric Lumbumba and some 12 other leaders of movements for freedom from Western exploitation. Such leaders got assassinated by poison, bullets, beatings, they disappeared thanks to the activities of Mi6, CIA, the Portuguese, French and Belgian secret police.
No-one respects a parasite, however demure.
