Some many ringing truths here... as a woman of colour, I've lost count of the friendships/relationships (personal, social ctivist and work-related) that have shattered or died a slow death due to the person with privilege refusing to countenance a consideration of their biases, most often expressed in terms of a sense of entitlement to my time, energy, and resources. If only people could grasp that thei upbringing gives them one one narrow perspective on the world and they really would see more and understand more, if they took people of very different backgrounds/heritage/gender, more seriously.
