Since coming out of lock-down, I have become acutely aware of ‘where our attention goes, energy flows’.

Standing in a queue at a supermarket, a guy brushed against me from behind, so I turned around and asked him to keep a distance. He began yelling that I had walked backwards into him… Eventually a manager came over and I was ushered to another line. The guy continued yelling, calling me ‘bitch’ or it might have been, ‘witch’… and took a photo of me.

Another day I had the audacity to leave my house and had just parked my car and a man came and parked his car right next to mine, though there were plenty of spaces around. I opened my car door and it slightly touched his car. He started yelling, ‘Are you blind, woman”, and then came over to check that his car had not been scratched. (It had not). He did not apologise.

When I go for a walk in the park on my own, I either put a stone up my sleeve or take a walking stick. it’s just in case some man decides to accost me. I would wack him in the face with the stone or hit him on the head with the stick.
