Recently I was reflecting on how hard it is to avoid plastics when shopping for food and drink . As a child, soft drinks and alcohol were sold in returnable bottles here in the Uk. And people kept their clothes, mended and repaired, and made alterations...

So this extraordinary level of wastefulness has got built in, just over a matter of 40 years or so...

We could say medical devices are essential (and its a plus they last for ages), while food packing should be in brown paper bags as it used to be. Why the heck a bunch of bananas needs to be encased in plastic, or grapes in a plastic box... it really is madness !

No wonder our bodies are getting filled with plastic and this itself is causing severe health issues... The earth too will soon have less soil and more damn plastic that doesn't not biodegrade for 500-1,000 years, as you will know.

Reverting to the use of ceramics and glass could take place for many contexts, if the plague of short-term convenience could be overcome.

I wish you a pain-free speedy recovery Abby.
