Oh my dear I am so sorry to hear of your experience… It was nothing but sheer nobility on your part to honour your husband and great grandparents by going to their funerals… what a disgrace that they did not treat you with the love and respect you deserve. I do know of Indian families where the daughter-in -law is accepted and treated warmly even if from another culture, but sadly as you say, there is the strand of abusive people who use others in appalling ways, channelling their aggression, sense of inferiority or whatever…

I think you have been far too generous and you are definitly doing the right thing to break away from these people. You and your daughter deserve nothing but love and support and I am so sorry that these meanies could not overcome their poverty of spirit.

It’s sad when people of your calibre get hurt Christina. I also trusted a man across race and religious divides (white english guy) only to find he was a covertly narcissitic, insecure bum, who lived off me and whne I finally got away from him, he told everyone I had used him

!I wish you every strength in the raising of your daughter — may you be blessed with good people around you as you go forward in life.
