I have a U.K passport and I am person of Indian heritage. Guess who got woken up during the overnight journey by coach, from Greece to Bulgaria? Only me. All the rest of the passengers (white, Eastern European or Western European) looked on with various degrees of curiosity. Some were clearly wondering why they were being delayed on their journey.

After some sort of Interpol check, I was allowed back on the coach and the journey resumed.

Indeed, passports are an exercise in disorientation and humiliation, the underlying purpose being, control of people of colour, whatever passport we might hold!
