In South Asian culture its quite rare for the adult offspring not to take care of the elders in the family.

I think we can do a lot to stay healthy into old age just by making the right choices. I see my sisters letting themselves go in the desire to be pampered. There's an element of wanting to be looked after, so actively making choices that will leave them unwell in the long run!
