In my decades-long experience teaching at several colleges in the North of England, many people enter teaching as a kind of power play. They love having authority over others and the capacity to undermine and invalidate they actually enjoy. They get a thrill in exerting power, much like serial killers. Malignant narcissism, is a spectrum of behaviours, most of them involve covert aggression.
Such people are trying to snuff out confidence and self-love, in children of colour, to replace with shame and a sense of inferiority because teacher told them they were 'stupid'/won't go far, etc etc.
