In addition to the problem of White people being unaware / claiming innocence, we sadly also have Black people/people of colour very willing to look the other way in situations where wrongdoing needs to be exposed, Black students/patients etc need to have their rights defended and then you have the token plack wheeled out by the institution, to declare, there is no institutional racism, it's just a 'personality clash' or a 'misunderstanding'. In the case of Professor Denis Rankin, of Ontario University, who supported black students, a Black professor was wheeled out to oppose him and then she was soon afterwards, given tenureship.
