…the idea of Rep Chip Roy equating lynching with justice was tone-deaf at best and racist at worst. Ida B. Wells collected evidence, proving that Black men accused of rape were innocent. She shone a light on injustice through her writing. In one of her antilynching papers, she described lynching as the “last relic of barbarism and slavery.”
