I'm really glad that you have met some decent guys who can be in your life in a way that makes up for your dad's absence. It's easy to say, but the best thing we can do, when we are let down in any kind of relationship is not to take it personally, especially when you are the child and it's the adult who has absconded from their responsibilities.

But just be a little wary - and stay in group situations. I trusted a guy as a friend who played on my sympathies so he could stay overnight... and then he got into my bed while I was asleep...

So, just be aware that you do get guys posing as your friend just to win your trust and then, they might well, sweet talk you at a vulnerable point in your life or just be out and out with you to see what they can get away with, after they pounce. It's the worst kind of betrayal!
