I would like to figure out how to start an Assange write in campaign.

There was a very effective campaign run in the USA by possibly 'Veterans for Peace, and by the LGBTQ/trans communities, for Chelsea Manning . Assuage hasn't got that sort of backing by journalists - or heterosexual males ! Sadly... but at least he has his wife and and legal team fully fighting for him.
