I wholeheartedly agree, but I would add this is largely a Western phenomenon.

Last night, I watched a documentary about an elephant actuary in Tamil Nadu, south India , whose focus in particular, was an older couple who bonded over taking care of an orphaned elephant... they treated it like their child, and declared the baby elephant not only needs to be fed, washed etc but also loved.

They were shown guiding children and teaching them how to take care of the baby elephant... they made every act like an act of worship, and joyful too. It was incredible to see their empathetic loving kindness . Apparently the tribal people of this region walk barefoot in the forest, as an act o respect.

What a contrast to life in the anomic, nature-exploiting UK, where I live.
