I think this is the brainwashing we receive in our Western education that is imbued with the positivist science ideology that has become all pervasive and seeks to delegitimise all other approaches to understanding reality.

Who is to say that having the approach of deifying Mother Earth, would not be the far better way of gathering knowledge that ensures Life is not exploited into extinction with such insane notions as 'externalities' of industrial procedures?
