I think this conceptualisation of time has arisen out of the capitlaist dynamic of turning everything, including Life itself into a commodity. 'Ever-extinguishing', gives the sense of one-directional linearity and scarcity. But when we loook at Indigenous cultures all around the globe, (including Hindu philosophy) the sense of time, nature and personal life is joined to a sensibility/awareness of the Eternal. In such a concepualisation, the idea of scarcity actually makes no sense.
