Most do it for very selfish reasons. It gives them status, power over another being, a reason to live without thinking too deeply about anything else, but the day to day routines. people with children are treated as if they are mature adults, whereas in my observation, the most self absorbed idiots go Ito parenthood regardless of their life circumstances and it's the children paying the rice of their mental /financial/relationship instability.
