I know you said you are new to Medium. You should bear in mind, that one clap is used to signify negative emotion like slap in the face disapproval . Two claps which you left for my article, is not much better ! We can give up to 50 claps to show out appreciation, whether for a comment or an article.

If an article is well -written and makes thoughtful points I will generally give 30 or so claps whether I agree with the author or not.

If we are wanting to build a better world, courtesy costs nothing and is always a good starting point for any interaction on any level.
