I have two older sisters (biologically only, are they sisters ) who would tell me to be quiet about XYZ going on in the family or in the world as for them, staying oblivious meant they had no responsiblity to address the injustice/troubling facts or whatever... And sadly I think a lot of people of every ethnicity have this approach to reality as the reality is so painful to bear.

Ps Bob Marley and the Wailers songs accompanied me everywhere when I discovered them in my early 20's. It was so sweet when I found a Reggae bar in this a remote area of Turkey over Xmas this year
