I have observed how those of an empathetic nature so often give and give, while those who claim to be 'in need', don't care much about the effect they are having, which can be self neglect . In my situation of having immigrant parents, who did not speak English, I became very attuned to doing stuff for them, from an early age, to avoid them getting embarrassed/humiliated.
