I have been having that feeling since my teens and I have been mocked, marginalised and shunned for speaking up during previous massacres - such as the shitty lies used to justify the various involving massive loss of life and crushing of the entire infrastructure of the society... such as the invasions of Iraq.

The point you make here is so important because those of conscience are constantly invalidated, even in so-called liberal/educated circles.
