I can't agree with you there... I find that being good, in the sense of kind, generous, compassionate, giving of my time, skills strengthens me and makes me feel connected to the world and to my deeper Self. Right now, I am about to get ready to leave for a 2 hour journey to stay with my elderly mother. I am taking her orchid flowers, for her bedroom and lounge, some plants for her garden, and various goodies like coconut oil to encourage her to cook with it, plus walnuts, (both help with memory issues) and blackberries and apples from my garden which I picked last night... I will give her massages, show her some stretch and balancing exercises, we will go to the seaside, and as usual I'll clean and mop everywhere before I leave,
I am looking forward to sharing Urdu proverbs and poems on You tube not to mention songs from Coke Studio... I did a course in alternative therapies so I could look after her better... I generally feel happy and satisfied, even if very tired. by the time I drive home.
However, I have learnt to place bounderies on my contact with people who I now cll, servers... these are the ones who take kindness as weakness and even, stupidity, and they play pity ploys in order to take and take. With such people, it's essential to have a heart of stone!!!
