He’s hiding something, and what he’s hiding is obvious: advertisements are full of lies, distortions, exaggerations, fallacies, and manipulations. Advertisers may indeed research how people think, just as big tech companies investigate how the brain works, because advertisers mean to exploit people’s fears and desires to sell them products they don’t need, while big tech companies mean to hack the brain to addict their customers to apps.
