I absolutely loathed reading that story by Camus and given he was desperate to be accepted as French, rather than Arabic/Algeian, the story makes sense. I 'd love to shoot people in the knee who spout this sort of nihilistic rubbish and then tell, them, 'dont' scream, it means nothing.
