Hi Kathy I laughed in surprise at seeing the words, 'For Aza Y. Alam' at the end of your thoughtful and deep dive into going beyond feeling attacked/affronted by use of the word 'Whyte' and into a space of empathy, via loss shared in an animal bereavement group.

Your response is indeed exceptional as we all do tend to close down and turn away when our world view is put in jeopardy in some way, leaving us feeling attacked.

I am really happy that you have shared the process whereby you took the courageous path of not shutting down, not dismissing but responding with heart.

Hugs and love ❤️

I will respond at more length later this weekend !
