Ha!

They have a split consciousness. As Paolo Freire explains in his magnificent, 'Pedagogy of the Oppressed', when all the institutions of society venerate the oppressors, a false consciousness is established in each individual member of the oppressed class. So whichever dimension one looks at - working class, colour lines, or gender, you find the ones who apply the oppressors's rule even more enthsuastically than the average one from the Oppressor class. So in other words, the Kanya and the Clarences identify with the powerful.

There are plenty of women like that too, allowing their husband to rape their child, for example, but more common is always favouring sons over daughters.

In India its the mothers in situations of scarcity, who give the sons most of the food she has, while allowing the daughter to suffer malnutrition or even die.
