Given that the human population has grown from something around 1.2 billion in 1900 to around 7.5 billion a century or so later, someone, somewhere is going to have to say we have to stop reproducing or else our numbers will be lowered via starvation and disease, flods and fires... and war... which do you prefer? I made a choice when I was 16, not to have children, so that I reduce the likelihood of bequeathing suffering. Most people I know have children so that they can feel adult and be supported in their old age... Hence I find most adults of child-bearing age, irresponsible and infantile. Observing the tragic truth of people being stuck in Stone Age thinking, is not being dismissive. As the auntie to ten children from four siblings, I can say parenting children is not hard work, but coping with sex-mad, self-absorbed adults most certainly is.
