From the point of view of peoples who lost their land to the invading Brits and Europeans, industrial blight would be a better term. And perhaps in 50 years time any survivors of the megalomaniacs currently expanding oil and coal production, industrialisation will probably be seen as the criminal enterprise of profiteering at planetary cost.
