Aww what a heart-warming comment Sia... a lot of the comments have gone deep into criticising the idea that an arranged marriage can have a better outcome - or that I am promoting traditions that usually hurt women... but you have focussed on my attempt to cheer Kitty up and provide a little bit of companionship... she was a good person, kind, honest and with a strong sense of doing things for the common good... I recall visiting a local museum together, going to a cafe with her... a book reading... One of the things I loved about her was that though she was 85, (when I met her) she was open-minded ... she enjoyed it when I introduced her to my parents and it didn't faze her that they didnt speak English in a conventional way... And she was very supportive towards me when my siblings were being hostile... A life long Labour voter, she really practised generosity in her way of being. She was a good friend to me!
