As an educationalist with a Masters degree in linguistics and teaching English, I believe it is the responsibility of the one with the greater knowledge to make the effort to communicate in ways that bridge the gap... of course the non-expert must also be willing to make an effort to grasp say, new conceptual paradigms and analyses.
You have a tremendously in depth knowledge but your stylistics in English are difficult to engage with. ie Not the knowledge you are conveying.
Richard Crim is another writer here on Medium communicating with the use of graphs regarding climate change and he writes in a way that is perfectly clear.
To explain further...I'm unsure how to take your title . 'China and the raised middle finger'. The genre of scientific discourse meets teenage type slang/ insult? It's just strangely discombobulating.
