This is the reason some of us, including me, struggle to write effortless, conversational English. Sometimes, my language sounds pedantic. I can’t help it when it happens because lucidity only emerges when the brain and heart work synchronously. The internal translator in our heads sometimes does a poor job of converting thoughts and feeling experienced in our native languages into excellent English.

Actually, as a teacher of English for native (white) speakers who had failed to learn to read and write - yes there are about 7 milllion such people in the UK.... as well as college and Univeristy level graduates, I must say your skills in English are excellent. Those monolingual speakers of English should try learning a language with a different script and grammar befor e they try to diminish and demean bilingual/multilingual speakers.
