Cynical people will argue that altruism doesn’t exist because people who behave altruistically only do so in pursuit of a non-material reward. But I have matured in my understanding of writing to the point where I recognize it’s possible to navigate a path of generosity that allows you to receive more than you give. Writers need to become comfortable navigating the nodes between vibrating points of apparent contradiction.
