A glaring example of collectively buying into a baseless claim occurred when U.S. President George W. Bush blatantly lied about Iraq possessing Weapons of Mass Destruction. Although U.N. inspectors in Iraq failed to find stockpiles of WMD and the IAEA denied evidence of nuclear weapons, under the pretext of an anti-terrorist and peace-making operation a U.S.-NATO led invasion ensued.
